It Is Time To Take Responsibility For Our Love

We all know to scripture that says, “God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten son” (John 3;16-18). Well too many of us seem to overlook the most basic fact, that to show love means that you must be willing to sacrifice of yourself.

Think about this, when someone says they love their classic car, they mean they are willing to do all that it will take to restore and keep it looking like new. Love is a dedication to another person.

The example that God gave us is clear if you realize that Jesus and God the Father are one in the same. The time Jesus spent on earth came to a head in the garden of Gethsemane as he took on all of the sins of the world (Luke 22:39-46). But much of the Christian world fails to see that the scourging of Jesus was equally as nesesary to our salvation to purge the sins of the world from the spotless Lamb so Jesus could again enter into presence of the our Creator. It was the Passion of Christ that meant the fulfilling of the prophecys concerning Christ. God took responsibility for his love  for us by enduring the most horrific punishment the world ever came up with (Deut. 25:3).
It may be interesting to note that Jesus cleansing the Temple was a foreshadowing of Christ’s Passion. With that said, many of Jesus’s parables explained a Father’s love.

In Luke 15, Jesus tell the story of the wayward son. The boy who squandered his  inherited wealth on prostitution.  But in the end the father forgave his son.

But the father in the story did more than just forgive the younger son, he chastised his older son who was not greatful for being in the father’s good graces and through a party for the returning son.

Jesus reminds us, “that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent” (Luke 15:7).
